The Man Who Walked Between The Towers coverThe Man Who Walked Between The Towers

Philippe Petit's breathtaking 1974 high-wire ballet between the twin towers of the World Trade Center comes to life in this audio companion to the 2004 Caldecott Medal winner. An exquisitely crafted original score and occasional sound effects (whistling, clapping, traffic, etc.) enrich the text, while a measured pace will allow ample time to peruse the book's delicately detailed illustrations and experience the vertigo created by each perspective. Gerstein reads with great dignity, as if he relishes not only Petit's exploit but every word of the text as well.
